What To Expect

Welcome to Overbrook Presbyterian Church!  We’re delighted you’ve found our website; we’d love to welcome you in person.  We hope you will take the time to learn more about our faith community by browsing through the site.  We’ve provided answers below to a few of the most common questions first-time visitors may have.

Of course, we invite you to contact the church office if you have a question or concern which you don’t feel is addressed on the site.  Please call (614) 261-1040 or contact us through our web form.

Where is the Church located?

The church is situated at the corner of High Street and Croswell Road, in the Clintonville neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio.  Our main entrance is on Croswell Road.

What to Expect

Our church building is a traditional brick building with a main ramp entrance.  We’re eager for you to encounter Christ in worship and study and through some of the warmest and most welcoming folks you’ll ever get to know.  If you are curious about our worship practices or style, please visit our Worship page and check out the sermons on our Resources page.

What to Wear

When you arrive at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, you’ll find folks in dresses and ties as well as shorts and sandals.  Please feel comfortable joining us as we worship the God who always sees us as we are.  The colors scarlet and gray are always appropriate.

Parking

Plenty of parking is available surrounding the church.  A number of handicapped parking spaces are reserved in the area of the parking lot closest to the Sanctuary.  We also have wheelchairs available.  An usher can assist you.

Where to Go

If you are arriving for Sunday morning worship at 9:00 a.m., come to the Narthex entry area and look for the Parlor doors to the left (northwestern side).  If you are arriving for the 11:00 a.m. service, enter the Narthex and look for the Sanctuary doors to the right (east side).  We have a Welcome Center in the middle of the Narthex with information folders, and always have greeters posted to welcome those gathering for worship.

During the week, you’ll find it most convenient to enter the Narthex and check in at the main office, which is located to the left of the Sanctuary.

The church is accessible to individuals with disabilities.  Hearing devices are available in the Narthex.  Ask an usher for assistance.

What About the Kids?

Throughout Overbrook, we are eager for children to learn that the church is a special place for them, where they belong, are loved, have friends, and find important service to do.

On Sunday mornings, we offer a Nursery for the youngest among us (infants through kindergarten) beginning at 8:45 a.m.  The Nursery is located at the far western (left) side of the building, in the Preschool, and remains open through the close of the 11:00 a.m. worship service.

Children join their families for worship.  Children’s Sunday School begins at 10:00 a.m. during the school year.  During the summer, we provide games and activities for children and their families to enjoy during the 10:00 a.m. hour in the Narthex and on the patio. Becoming a Member of Overbrook

Persons may enter into active church membership by profession of faith, reaffirmation of faith in Jesus Christ, or transfer of letter from another church.  University students especially may wish to consider becoming affiliate members, an option which allows them to remain a member of their “home” churches in another city or state while making Overbrook their “home away from home.”  Of course, non-members are always welcome to participate in the life and worship of this church.

If you are interested in learning more about joining Overbrook, please visit the Membership page.
