~ Bill & Mary
Bill Gause
Senior Pastor
Pastor Bill came to Overbrook as senior pastor in 2012 after serving several congregations in South Carolina and Georgia. He counts it as a privilege to minister to our congregation and appreciates that our members are progressive, open, and affirming of all people. Bill is a huge fan of the University of South Carolina’s athletics, particularly the women’s basketball team. He enjoys building with Legos, a hobby he shares with his son, Will Grey. Pastor Bill also loves spending time with his wife and best friend, Mary. He thinks any time spent with her is a good blessed time.
Mary Gause
Associate Pastor
In 2014, Mary joined the Overbrook leadership team as Associate Pastor. Her focus at Overbrook is on mission and evangelism through weekly worship leadership, pastoral care, and children’s ministry. Mary loves women’s basketball, big dogs, and rarely says no to a beach trip. She feels so blessed that their boys feel like Overbrook is their church “home”. Bill, Mary, and their two boys have found an extended family of aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and so many folks who truly love their family.

Leadership Structure
The Session
The Session is the governing body of the church. The congregation chooses twelve members to serve on Session, each for a three-year term, as Ruling Elders. Elders participate and vote with the same authority as Overbrook leadership.
Overbrook Session oversees the work of these church teams:
- Evangelism and Outreach
- Member Enrichment
- Administration and Operations
- The Board of Deacons
- Stephen Ministers
Session also adopts the annual budget as well as personnel and operating policies. Additionally, it meets with new members and confirmation classes.
The Board of Deacons
The Board of Deacons consists of fifteen members serving three-year terms. They meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. A deacon’s work is intended to be an extension of our pastors’ work. Deacons promote personal contact among church members through neighborhood networks. These groups of members live in the same geographical area and interact with their assigned deacon to share the challenges and needs that might benefit from church outreach.
Some of the ways Deacons serve include:
- Deacon Outreach – calls, cards, home and hospital visits
- Communion preparation and distribution
- Visiting homebound members
- Delivering Easter and Christmas flowers
- Casserole Ministry
- Supporting church-wide projects
- Hosting receptions
