Notes from the Finance Ministry Team:
Per Capita is a fundamental way that all members of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) connect, participate and share in the work of the wider church. It is the primary source of funding for the Office of the General Assembly, the Synod, and the Presbytery. All Presbyterians are called to take part in the ecclesiastical and administrative work shared by the whole church through per capita giving. Overbrook pays the per capita for every member of our church. If you are able to reimburse Overbrook for your share, it will help free monies for our local budget. Just indicate “Per Capita” on your check or envelope. The per capita for 2019 is $33 per member.
You may be able to take a tax deduction for your contributions to Overbrook even if you don’t itemize on Schedule A. Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD) are nontaxable distributions from your IRA. You must be at least 70½ years old, and direct your IRA trustee to send the payment directly to Overbrook. A QCD will count towards your required minimum distribution. If you would like more information, please contact Elaine Nordstrom.
