During this time of Covid-19, please continue to check back here for updated information you might find helpful regarding Overbrook Church. If you have questions which are not answered here, please contact us.
I miss being in the church. Can I come inside just to meditate or to pray?
While we would love allow personal opportunities for reflection in our worship spaces, we are not yet ready to do so. Please know that we will communicate when those opportunities are available as we progress though our phases of safe re-opening. Until then, remember that parts of our online worship services are recorded inside the church building and watching those might provide the familiarity you desire. We also suggest finding a special space in nature, or creating a peaceful place in your home, in which to regularly pray and worship during this time.
I miss seeing other church members. How can I connect with them?
There are many ways we are interacting, and we hope you’ll join us in all ways which are comfortable to you:
- Online: Weekly 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning coffee hour; members-only Facebook fellowship group; Youth Fellowship – schedule varies
- In Person (socially distanced & size limited): monthly book group; monthly Theology on Tap fellowship group; occasional small fellowship groups; lawn mowing and garden upkeep crew; parking lot food drive volunteering or donating
- Other: We encourage you to find ways to “pass the peace” to others in the congregation by calling to say hello or by emailing or mailing them a short note. Contact the church office to request an updated directory.
We are continually adding ways to safely come together. Be sure to check the weekly email updates to see what’s new. If you are a member of our congregation but do not receive the email updates or the postal mailings, please contact the church office to be added to the list.
Someone has died, can we have a memorial service?
During the time in which our properties have been closed due to Covid-19, we have continued to help families celebrate the life of loved ones who have passed away. A graveside or funeral home service can be arranged. If a death has occurred in your family, please contact a pastor to to see how they might be able to help by leaving a message on the Pastor on Call line (614-261-0905).
Do you know where I can get a re-usable face mask?
Absolutely! We have masks to share which have been handmade by members of the congregation. Just contact a pastor or the church office.
Can you help me with errands?
If you are sick, quarantined or have other reasons which may keep you from picking up prescriptions, groceries, etc., we have a team of volunteers who would be happy to help you with these errands. Contact a pastor or the church office to discuss how we might be of assistance.
We’re quarantined, ill, etc., can someone help feed our family?
Our Board of Deacons has a casserole ministry team to help out when a church member is ill, hospitalized or otherwise temporarily unable to provide a daily meal for their family. Please reach out to a pastor to discuss needs.
How are offerings/donations collected at this time?
You are welcome to mail a check with your offerings/donations directly to the church (4131 North High Street; Columbus, OH 43214). We are picking up our mail from the post office several times a week. Additionally, you can contact John Wyckoff (firstname.lastname@example.org) to set up auto payment from your bank account. The Finance Ministry team is currently researching online giving methods – details will be shared when they are finalized.
